Outdoor Activities

Activities are based on Campers age, ability, skill, environment & Forest Service/site restrictions!

Safety is Our first concern for your child. Activities may include: Hiking, camping & site set-up, survival skills, shelter construction, cultural history, wildlife ID and observation, night games, whittling/carving, archery, sling shots, orienteering, fire building, kayaking, crayfish catch & eat, cast iron cooking, outdoor crafts & games.

AOE Policies and Procedures

Camper Pick Up and Drop Off Location:

Sonoran Foothills Community Center in Phoenix

Address: 31910 N. Foothills Dr. Phoenix 85085

Please have your camper/gear ready and on site 10 minutes before departure and at least 5 minutes early on return date. Late arrivals more than 15 minutes will be charged an extra fee!

Camp Site Location/Destination:

We provide transportation, using 12 or 15 passenger vans, from Sonoran Foothills Community Center to our site in  Cibola National Forest New Mexico. It is 7300 ft elevation approximately 5 hours or 334 miles away. The closest emergency services to our location is Timberlake Ranch Fire Department.

Dietary Restrictions:

All camps have a balanced and set menu 2 weeks before the camps begin!  Campers with special dietary needs will be noted yet it is the parents responsibility to supply these items for the camper. AOE supplies meals only based on its menu. All campers will bring a lunch for the road on the first day!

Our Camps are Insured and Staffed for 1:6 Ratio:

Safety is our #1 priority for all campers and risks are minimized to provide a safe environment at all times! All camps are insured yet parents must complete a signed liability form in the registration packet along with a rules and expectations for behavior. Our staff includes adult leaders who have had background checks. It also provides junior staff to assist with activities and supervision. 

Sibling Discounts and Referred Friends:

We appreciate families who want to send multiple children to camp. We offer a sibling discount of $50 for each additional child camper who attends the camp. We also give a $50 discount for friends referred who register and attend our camps.

Camp Population or Size:

Our camps are first come first serve basis. It is usually 10-20 campers per camp to receive individual attention and supervision. We reserve the right to cancel or close camps based on registrations. We will give notices and refunds if needed.

Camp Registration Fees and Cancellations:

All camp fees must be paid 2 weeks prior to the actual departure date after the initial non refundable deposit. A registration packet will be e-mailed to all parents 4 weeks before camp begins with all forms, what to bring, and relevant information. If a cancellation is needed it must occur 2 weeks prior to camp yet the deposit is non-refundable!
